hmmm...not sure what version of blogger editor you are using. If you go to blogger dashboard you should see your blog with a link to 'design'. Once you click on that, you should see another link at the top that says 'template designer' which takes you into another page of stuff. Or you can use the 'page elements' where you can apply a new background from those free background sites by setting up a new gadget. Feel free to email you if you're still having trouble, i can send you some screen prints or something.
By the way, your stitching and sewing from previous post are lovely! The pumpking thread catcher and the wallet look like a lot of work but so cute when done!
